Rakhi Sawant‘s anticipatory bail application has been rejected by a Ludhiana court and has issued a fresh arrest warrant against her for failing to appear in the court today in a case of hurting communal sentiments. Vishav Gupta, the judicial magistrate posted the matter for 5th September. Meanwhile, the lawyers of Rakhi moved to an application in the court of district sessions judge Gurbir Singh seeking an extension of the bail reasoning that she could not appear in the court today as she was in the USA.
On August 5th the district sessions judge had granted an anticipatory bail to the actress on the condition that she will surrender before the trial court on August 7th and furnish surety bonds to the satisfaction of the court.
Narinder Adiya, the advocate had filed the complaint against the actress on 9th of July last year, claiming her comments, which were made on a private television channel, had hurt the Valmiki community’s sentiments. After which Sawant had tendered “an unconditional apology” to the Valmiki community after its members voiced outrage over her remarks.
She had said, “I never meant to hurt anyone. However, if I did it in ignorance, I seek an apology from the people.” She said this when she had a hearing in Ludhiana court but failed to make an appearance after she missed her flight from Mumbai due to a foot injury.
The actor had called Valmiki a murderer during a Channel interview.
Shall wait for further developments on this.
