Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati has been in controversy ever since it’s shooting started. Twice the sets were attacked by different groups, due to which the movie shoot had to be stalled. First attack on the movie set was in Jaipur by Karni Sena, which had an objection to the movie’s content.
Reportedly, the Sena got information that a love scene will be shot by the actors playing the role of Rani Padmavati and Allauddin Khilji. The roles are being played by Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh respectively. The activists felt that Bhansali was destroying their history by distorting the truth and this resulted in violence. They even beat up the movie’s director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Later on, after a meeting with the chief of Karni Sena, it was clarified that no such scene was even written in the script of the movie.
And just when we thought that it’s shooting would continue in peace, the movie set of Kolhapur was damaged. Activists burnt more than 80% of costumes and jewelry. When everyone was panicking, Bhansali kept his calm. And now he has written the activists a letter asking for their co-operation, as they have no clue as to why they had objections.
He thinks that there is a lot of misunderstanding surrounding his movie, Padmavati. This is a movie about revered Rajput queen Rani Padmavati and her violent fight for dignity and respect. Bhansali also feels that entire India will be proud of the movie he is making.
They have carefully researched everything and there are no objectionable scenes in the movie. They don’t want to hurt anyone’s sentiments and they will win hearts of people this time again.
Bhansali took this opportunity to thank the chief of Rajput community over agreeing to no more violence by their activists on his movie set. The movie stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles.
