Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, had a decent opening and the audience has liked the movie and by day 3, it made a fantastic collection of Rs 21.25 crore and gradually the collection went up to Rs 51.45 crore by the end of the week.
Making a box office collection of more than Rs. 50 crore in the first week is a great achievement for the movie especially at a time when most of the Hindi movies were failing to make an impact on the audience.
The story line of the movie is unique and that is why the audience is flocking to the theatres. The collection is expected to rise in the coming days also.
The film trade analyst, Taran Adarsh tweeted on Twitter, “#ToiletEkPremKatha had an AWESOME weekend. The day-wise growth was PHENOMENAL. Tue [Independence Day] will again witness a big jump in biz. #ToiletEkPremKatha is EXTRAORDINARY. Fri Rs 13.10 crore, Sat Rs 17.10 crore, Sun Rs 21.25 crore. Total: Rs 51.45 crore. India biz. #TEPK.”
As mentioned above, the story line of the movie is entirely different and the movie is conveying a strong social message to the Indian society. The film was released in 3000 screens all over India.
The film is based on sanitation and a lot of importance is given to the matter of personal hygiene and toilets in villages and small towns. The opening scene of the movie is a reality where we see few women using the farms to relieve themselves. The sanitation part comes into act much later in the movie.
If you see the current situation, then Akki’s film will definitely cross the line of Rs 70 – 80 cores easily. In fact the film has got mixed reviews by the audience as well by the film critics because the film is a little lengthy.
