Bollywood celebrities are playing a vital role in order to create awareness about sexual and physical abuse. For this, they take help of their stardom so that it can act as the catalysts for change.
Taapsee Pannu is the recent one to join the bandwagon. This actress joined hands with the students of IIT Mumbai in their endeavor to promote awareness about the sanitary education among women. This initiation also includes the distribution of sanitary napkins in the villages.
The actress reveals that her aim is to remove the stigma attached to menstruation. Taapsee analyses, “I have never understood why menstruation has been a taboo subject, people don’t want to come out in the open and talk about it. Women often use code language to talk about it. That’s probably one of the reasons why the sanitary health of women has not really improved over the years.”
According to her, the very first step towards improving the sanitary health is to address it openly. “It’s a natural aspect of womanhood. It needs to be discussed, so people understand it better.” Taapsee thinks that it’s noteworthy that the young students are focusing on this attitudinal change. “It’s a delight when young minds work hard to create awareness about such issues.”
