Sonam Kapoor seems ecstatic as she is prepping herself up to receive her very first National Award. The ceremony was held in New Delhi. The talented actress bagged the prestigious award for her dynamic performance in the biopic Neerja.
Neerja was a Ram Madhvani directional. It was a biopic of Neerja Bhanot, the brave airhostess who lost her life in the Pan Am flight hijack. The film was released last year. It won the hearts of both the critics and the audience alike.
Though the winners of the National Awards were announced earlier last month, but the ceremony is to be held today.
Before the big-day a reporter caught up with Sonam…
When asked, if the fact that she has bagged a National Award has sunk into her yet, this is what she had to say, “No (laughs). Yesterday when I went up on stage for the rehearsals and I was sitting next to actors like Adil Hussain and all these amazing people, I was like ‘Oh my God… I am just a baby in front of all these people’. I was really excited. I was in shock. Everything was just hitting me yesterday when I was in Vigyan Bhavan sitting with all, with my name written over there. I am really humbled and honestly, I don’t think I deserved it. I am really nervous. I have come to the gym right now and I am just walking around to beat the nervousness. Honestly, when you get such a big recognition, especially for me, I don’t know if I deserve it, but I am happy for Ram and the Bhanots. I have got this recognition for playing this beautiful girl called Neerja Bhanot.”
Well seems like things are going pretty well for the ‘Khoobsurat’ actress (pun intended ?). We wish her all the luck for her future!
