In accordance, with the amid indications of joining politics, veteran actor Kamal Haasan addressed that his color is “definitely not saffron”.
Days after, coming from a meeting with Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan he told his fans to get ready for a march to the Fort St George in Chennai, the seat of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly so that to ensure that no corrupt politician should be re-elected in the state. This meeting was held at the CM’s official residence ‘Cliff House’ were Haasan discussed the political issue of the neighboring Tamil Nadu.
Kamal Haasan was treated to a feast which was arranged for the Onam festival celebrations. When he was asked about the Tamil Nadu politics, the actor replied that the governor should intervene in the present situation.
He said, “I do not like to see this drama (going in Tamil Nadu). I am not anyone to call for a floor test or speak to the governor, but I am using this podium to call for it.”
TTV Dhinakaran is struggling to get in power on Tamil Nadu with high stakes after the CM and his deputy merged on 21st Aug. Further, when the multilingual actor was asked about his political affiliation, he said that he had been in the film industry for 40 years, but “I can tell you one thing, my colour is definitely not saffron.”
Kamal Haasan informed that he came to Kerala for a personal visit. He added, “Most of the leftists are my heroes. I want to be in the middle of things and not take sides.” Further he remarked that “Look at the statistics of Kerala, you are pushing it to the standards of western countries. Mine is not blind admiration, it is sensible – about why choosing Pinarayi Vijayan.”
Talking about the meeting indicated on his FB posts, Vijayan mentioned that he shared a healthy friendship with the actor. He also added, “Whenever he visits Kerala, he used meets me. However, this is the first meeting after I assumed the office of chief minister. Though it was a courtesy meeting, politics of south India, especially the situation in Tamil Nadu, also came up for discussion.”
Before leaving for the meeting with CM, Haasan said that his visit was “a political education tour.” He said, “Definitely, as far as I am concerned, this is an education tour to me.” He also said, “Actually I was supposed to come to Kerala last year itself. But I could not make it as I met with an accident.” Kamal Haasan also congratulated the CPI(M)-led LDF government which is headed by Vijayan for delivering “good governance” when it completed 1 year in May, this year.
