Remembering the Old Days, Sunny Deol: I’ll Never Work with Yash Chopra Again

Multi-talented Sunny Deol is an actor, director and producer of Bollywood movies. He comes from a filmy background with Dharmendra as father and he is elder brother of Bobby and Esha Deol, who are also a part of B-Town. He started his career with the movie Betaab.

When we talk about the movie Darr, the first thing that comes to our mind is Shah Rukh’s acting as a villain and of course, Kiran. Though Sunny Deol was in the movie in the lead role, he was unable to leave any remarkable mark on audiences. This upset Sunny a little.

Initially, Sunny was offered to choose between the role of either Rahul Malhotra or Sunil Mehra, but he chose to go with the positive role. After the movie shoot was completed, he found that director Yash Chopra hadn’t given him enough screen time. Thus, Shah Rukh stole away the show.

Years later, during the release of Gadar, he opened up and said he would never ever work with Yash Chopra again, as he was very upset with him for the less screen time in Darr.

When asked about the reaction of his colleagues after the success of Gadar, he smiled and answered, “Sanjay Dutt called me.” He added, “Sanjay and I are very close to each other and our career graph matches to that of each other.” He also confirmed that many of his colleagues might not have enjoyed the news of success of Gadar.

When asked about why he was rejected at the last moment for the movie Lajja, he replied, “It’s better to ask the question to Mr. Rajkumar Santoshi, the director of the movie because there was no problem with the dates or any other stuff related to the movie.” He too wants to know the reason behind his deed.
