Sony channel’s most controversial show, Pehredaar Piya ki, goes off air on 28th August after the crew member denied to shift the timing of the show. The show had been receiving detestation from viewers for supporting child marriage and portraying it as a societal act on the screen.
They complained that the broadcasting of show on the prime time, 8:30 p.m, i.e, usually when all family watch television together will put a bad impression on the children. People claimed the serial may influence people of rustic mindset for child marriage.
The producer of the show Sumeet Mittal, allegated social media for misrepresenting the story plot, he said there was confusion among the people since from the promo of serial was released as a result an online petition was signed by over 1 lakh people against the storyline of the show.
People had notions that it would be misleading for our children watching a 9-year boy marrying a girl doubles his age, caressing and addressing her as his wife. The case thus reached BCCC who asked showmakers to shift the timing of the show to 10 p.m. The entire crew was disheartened with BCCC’s order and they decided to pull down broadcasting of serial rather shifting it.
Mittal, however, said affirmatively that his crew has no grudges with channel and ministry but looked upset with how social media turned the objections into controversies low downing the hard work of crew members.
The makers of the serial, however, has planned to return with new series with a 10-year leap,
“I cannot comment on the ministry part but I must first tell you that the channel offered us to get back with a new show in the same time slot. That’s commendable on their part. We had a wonderful team and we really hope we can get back on another project with them. It’s sad but we will take this in our stride and move ahead,” Mittal said.
We hope best for them!!
