Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda has always been under constant speculations about making her career in Bollywood, just because she’s a star kid. But looks like she’s got other plans.
In an interview with a magazine, she rubbished the rumours and has put it out straight that she isn’t interested in entering Bollywood.
Navya said, “No way I’ll make a career in acting. I am enjoying my internship at the advertising agency. I love the independence I get in Manhattan.”
Her mom, Shweta Nanda asserts, “I really try to tell Navya about all the cons [of being a part of the film industry]. I have nothing against the industry, it’s who we are. But, it’s not an easy world to be in.”
While in Manhattan, Navya spends her day by attending a spinning class in the morning, trawling the city streets later and relishing meals with friends at her favourite restaurant, Serafina.
When Shweta said that Navya hasn’t taken after either of her parents, Navya quickly disagreed and said that she feels she has a lot of her mother’s qualities. She explained, “I am confident, self-aware and polite.I have also inherited a love for reading, and want everything from my mother’s closet, including her shoes.”
In times when kids and parents don’t get along well, Navya expresses that her mom is her best friend. She also mentioned that she is her grandmother Jaya Bachchan’s favourite grandchild. The mother-daughter’s equation while they had a banter was hard to miss. Navya revealed, “She [Shweta] uses all the wrong lingo… And she has to punctuate everything! It drives me crazy.”
