It seems like the latest poster of Lipstick Under My Burkha, is showing middle finger to CBFC. The movie has been showcased at over 25 film festivals and the response is also good. As a result the film has won multiple awards, including the Grand Jury Prize at Films de Femmes Creteil, France and the inaugural Oxfam Award for the Best Film on Gender Equality, which is really a great achievement by any Bollywood movie.
The movie was on hold by Censor Board because of too “lady oriented” content, sexual scenes and abusive words. Because of the presence of these elements in the movie, it was denied certification by the CBFC in the month of January but the makers of the film went up to FCAT for a reversal of the CBFC decision and finally FCAT asked CBFC to certify the movie.
The movie Lipstick Under My Burkha is directed by Alankrita Shrivastava, which posess an ‘A’ certificate. Ekta Kapoor, a well-known face from Bollywood and TV industry distributed the film globally. As per the schedule, the movie is going to be released on 21st of July.
This latest poster of the film is creating a lot of buzz in the Internet and has gone viral. It seems like it is an open challenge to CBFC. Just think about Pahlaj Nihalani, who is the current CBFC chief.
While talking on the same issue, Pahlaj reacted to the poster. “We’ve taken note of the poster. Showing the middle finger is impolite in any society. And it should be discouraged. I don’t think disapproving of this obscene gesture would be considered primitive or regressive in any society, except maybe in ours. We love to show our middle finger at anyone who champions sobriety and grace in our conduct”.
As per Pahlaj, the middle finger is not for CBFC but for aam janta. Okay, people will decide on it after the film gets released for sure.
