Deepika Padukone’s charming style is a non-negotiable fact. Wherever she goes she is always seen in an impressive look which can be an inspiration for other. Whether she’s having dinner in Gucci pyjama sets or turning heads with her Gala dress in Tommy Hilfiger. Deepika believes that style ought to be an extension of anyone’s personality. Hence it isn’t surprising that she has cited sarees as her favorite garment and we have seen her many a time in saree for the various occasion instead for choosing gowns.
She made her debut movie in 2007 and has never shied away from her traditional looks both on-screen and off-screen. Deepika’s repertoire is peppered with memorable looks right from the Anarkali to lehengas and sarees. In the year 2012, Deepika was riding Anarkali wave, showcasing the voluminous creations by Sandeep Khosla, Abu Jani and Rohit Bal. She opted updo hair style and statement earrings. Soon sarees took a dominant pick, with the fashionista often being drawn to elegant ivory drapes by Anamika Khanna and Jani Khosla. Further, pop-hued sarees by Arpita Mehta also were seen.
And then, the next year she has developed a particular penchant for Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s elaborate designs that are filled with his signature old-world charm. And we can see this sartorial partnership continuing till date.
Deepika was seen in an embellished floor-length Anarkali at IIFA 2014, cape saree for the launch of Happy New Year, sequinned red and gold saree for IIFA 2015, ivory sharara set for the poster launch of Bajirao Mastani, floral silk saree at the Lakme Fashion Week and some more Sabyasachi looks. Most recently, the sworn Sabyasachi patron has been observed in hand-printed floral saree with floor length pallu from his Udaipur collection.
I guess Deepika’s traditional looks strike us the most. That’s not to say she completely steers clear of experimenting; instead, she does so within a reasonable limit. We find her in the fuss-free Indian silhouettes with beige and ivory which let her come out as a winner. You can also get the key to finish, your traditional look from her.
Let a heavy embellished outfit grab people’s attention with the hair pulled back, keep the minimal make-up and add a piece of statement jewelry.
So what are your thoughts, to put on, in the upcoming festive season?
