‘Daddy’ movie, directed by Ashim Ahluwalia is out now. This film is a political-crime-drama film, which stars Arjun Rampal, Aishwarya Rajesh, Nishikant Kamat, Rajesh Shringarpure, Anand Ingale as its cast.
The film tells the story of Arun Gawli, who takes up to the gangster world, and is feared by the people. The character is fascinating and repellant, at the same time.
While Arjun Rampal has worked on his looks in the film, is still believable only in fits and starts. The director of the movie wants a ‘Robin Hood’ image of the character Arun Gawli, which ends up shackling Arjun’s performance in the film.
Must mention, the camerawork of the movie is great, with the look of all the characters as well. Arjun Rampal has been more of reluctant mobster in search of redemption, than just being a cold-blooded murderer.
The film goes through all the action, cut-murder scenes and chase and encounters. In this very male, very violent world, a woman softly glows: Aishwarya Rajesh pitches in a fine act as Gawli’s beloved and constant companion. Nishikant Kamat, who plays the role of the cop whose mission is to nail Gawli, has a nice performance.
The 70’s style is back with this movie. Big hairs and collars and flared pants. The film has failed to present a full story, yet is the result of good study of the making of a gangster.
