Even though ‘Baahubali‘ has been dancing in its success, the makers of the film have faced quite a lot of challenges and controversies. Vishal Krishna, a Tamilian actor was recently elected as the President of Tamil Film Producer’s Council. Members of the council have lodged a complaint saying that the producers of ‘Baahubali 2’ have suffered a huge loss due to piracy.
A piracy website by the name Tamil Rockers has uploaded pirated versions of this blockbuster film, for which the complaint has been registered.
The President and other members of the council assure that the film has suffered a huge loss due to this piracy and requested the police to immediately take down all the illegal websites which show pirated versions of the film and also to charge the culprits for their deeds.
In its complaint, the council said it had identified many websites where Baahubali 2 was available for illegal download “right now” and their corresponding IP addresses. Released on April 28, the producers’ body said it had received a complaint from the makers of the film.
Council President and actor Vishal Krishna told reporters, “We met the police commissioner on our complaint seeking action against piracy of Baahubali 2,” after meeting Singha along with some of his colleagues in the producer’s body. He said information related to illegal uploading of the film online was provided in the Council’s May 4 complaint.
For this, Tamil movies have to face a lot of challenges apart from the internet piracy, Cable TV piracy being one of them. According to reports, there are no takers for satellite rights of about 300 films, including blockbusters like Kabali and Their due to this reason. Vishal said the issue of the broadcast of films by some local cable television operators was also brought to the notice of the police official.
Vishal and his team won the elections for the producers’ council as they had promised to look into the matter of piracy, which is quite rampant in the Tamil film industry.
The pirated version of ‘Baahubali 2’ had been leaked on the same day as its release. One of the film viewers in Kuwait live-streamed the film on his Facebook account.
However, none of this stopped from letting the film be a blockbuster that it is today.
