Every film runs within a specific ambience containing factors which actors tries to justify with their acting skills. Arjun Rampal’s upcoming film Daddy has Arun Gawli’s life as backdrop. The movie could mark Arjun’s filmy career for lifetime, if get positive reactions from viewers.
The storyline is of the city Mumbai when it used to be Bombay, i.e during the reign of 70s-90s. It is about Arun Gawli, a poor factory worker in his early life, who participated in the crime and swiftly transformed into gangster and head of crime group, ‘Byculla Company’. He later became MLA from Chinchpokli area in Mumbai.
In the trailer, Arjun appeared perfect as per the movie’s subject. Asking Ashim Ahluwalia, the director of the film, he said, “I have grown up in Bombay and have seen how police stations, dance bars etc looked like in the ’80s. These are spaces that most Bollywood movies get completely wrong. I don’t design pot boiler masala films I do content driven films that have enough masala to become a pot boiler.”
In the trailer, we will see Mumbai back in 80s and how people used to live and think that time, it might sound ironical but the city has gone through a bigger chance in last few decades. Even for the Mumbaikars, the film will provide something new. The crew members including Arjun Rampal as a producer has done a remarkable deal of research by referencing various news, photos and all to portray Bombay of 80s era.
The movie will release in theaters on 8 September 2017 in association with Wave Cinemas Ponty Chadha, Raju Chadha, Karta Entertainment, and Kundalini Entertainment.
