On the 8th of May, singer Adnan Sami became a proud dad to the baby girl and his wife Roya named her Medina Sami Khan.
Roya delivered Medina in Munich (Germany) and hence the baby girl holds a Germany citizenship by birth. When Adnan was asked about the same by a leading daily, he said, “So what? That doesn’t stop her from being a Hindustani. She will eventually come to India and we’ll apply for her Indian citizenship. Mumbai is home to us. Medina was born in Munich because Roya’s family lives in Germany and she had five sisters to help her while I was traveling for work.”
When the daily asked him about the inspiration behind naming her Madina, Sami said, “I have named her after the city of Medina, which embraced Prophet Mohammed when he was forced to leave Mecca. Even today, the city is known for its love and hospitality. It’s also here that you’ll hear the most beautiful Azaan, immersing you in a wave of spirituality. So, I felt that Medina was an apt name for my baby.”
On his work front, Adnan Sami recently received the Asian Award from the British Parliament’s House of Lords for Outstanding Achievement in Music. And he considers his little baby as his lucky charm. While accepting the award, Sami said, “I dedicate this award to my late father and receive it in the name of India.”
